The Bamboo Smoke Puerh Tea is a Tribal Tea processed by tribes residing in North-East India (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland). When we started our journey with Pekkoy Tea we wanted to add this rare Tea to our collection as it’s a true unique Tea of North East India.
Bamboo Puerh Tea is very similar to the Puerh Teas of China but have their own characteristics. The oldest form of Pue’rh tea found in Assam. Fresh Tea leaves are stored in bamboo, aged and smoked on the shelves above the traditional cooking pits for nearly 4 years in the villages across Assam, Arunachal and Nagaland.
What makes this Tea truly remarkable is that this Tea can be preserved using this method for as long as twelve years and the older the vintage, better and more refined the taste becomes. There is a distinct smoky flavour to this Tea which makes it unlike any other Tea.
A truly rare Tea with a long history, this Tribal Tea has a complex flavour profile. All our bamboo teas are aged four years as the taste of the Tea gets better with each passing year.
